Kawakawa resident David Richards was one of three respondents to the RaceForm Reader survey whose names were drawn as the winners of three prizes. His reward was a table for eight at Ellerslie’s Silks Restaurant, compliments of RaceForm Publications and Auckland Thoroughbred Racing.
Thus David and his wife Ingrid, his brother Evan and wife Te Aroha, nephew Shaun and his partner Cheryl, along with Rotorua friends Doug and Korina Lorimer, made the most of their chance to attend the iconic event
“We couldn’t believe it when we won the prize, then we wondered if we’d be able to go through with it because of the COVID situation, but it couldn’t have been better,” said David, still buzzing days afterwards.
“What a fantastic meeting! I’ve been to Ellerslie before but never to Karaka Million night. I reckon we might have to do it every year!”
David and his mates have been keen RaceForm readers from the start and, giving credit where it’s due, reckon the information in the Karaka Million edition was a big help in filling their pockets.
“It’s the best, we read it from cover to cover every week and last week was as good as ever. We walked away with quite a bit of money.
“It was a night to remember; so thanks to RaceForm and Ellerslie, we won’t forget it in a hurry.”
